How it is calculated

Energy = W ÷ 1000 × hours/day × days. Standby fills the remaining hours each day. The annual figure uses 365 days with the same schedule; it is not added again to the period cost.

kWh = (W_active × hours + W_standby × (24 − hours)) × days / 1000
Assumptions and limitations

Appliances are editable examples: use the label or a meter. Cycling appliances do not draw maximum power continuously. National averages are historical references, not your tariff or a bill: they may include fixed charges and taxes.
