Worked example and interpretation
January 1 to January 8 is 7 elapsed days, not a count that includes both endpoints. February 28 to March 1, 2024 is 2 days because 2024 was a leap year.
What to check
These are calendar days, not business days. Holidays and weekends remain included. Use Hours and duration for shifts and breaks; date differences need not equal actual hours across daylight-saving changes.
Frequently asked questions
How are days between dates counted?
The tool calculates the gap in calendar days, without times of day. The result stays positive if you swap the dates. January 1 to January 8 is 7 days, or one full week.
Are both the start and end dates included?
The result is the difference between dates, not an inclusive count of both endpoints. From the 1st to the 2nd is 1 day; identical dates give 0. Add 1 if your task requires counting both endpoints.
Can I count working days only?
This tool counts calendar days, including weekends and public holidays. It does not apply country-specific working calendars. For a working-day deadline, subtract non-working days using the relevant calendar.
How do leap years affect the result?
February 29 is included when it exists. For example, February 28 to March 1 is 2 days in 2024 but 1 day in 2025. The calculation does not assume every year has 365 days.
